Ages: 2 - 4 years with an Adult. Join us for a fun and creative winter art class that fits 2, 3 and 4 year old artists! We kick things off with a book related to art, inspiring the little artists as they explore colors, textures and wintery themes through open-ended, messy and playful art projects and sensory experiences. This warm and nurturing environment is a great first art class opportunity for toddlers and preschoolers to explore the snowy season with a wide variety of materials. Class wraps up with a sensory table experience, perfect for sparking imagination, building fine motor skills and playing next to peers. The Friday section of this class pairs well with Kidokinetics at 10:30am (same day, same location). Instructor: Namrata Khemka. 7 classes. Integrating sensory and fine motor activities into young childrens’ play significantly impacts their overall development, laying a strong foundation for future learning and growth. Each week, explore NEW themed sensory bins with exciting materials, textures and tools to delight the sense of touch and imagination. Alongside the sensory choices, participate in fine motor stations to pinch, push, pull and squeeze and utilize tools like scissors, tweezers, scoops and pipettes. Practice your child’s grip and control over small objects, hand-eye coordination and hand strength. Our large preschool room then opens up to you and your child for free play alongside peers including pretend kitchen play, building with blocks, gross motor play and more. Class ends with a circle time gathering together to sing and learn songs and fingerplays that engage fine motor muscles, join in hands-on group activities and listen to a read aloud story. Ages: 12 to 24 months with an Adult. Welcome to the world of the one-year-old! We gather together each week to sing, play, and move with other families and same-age peers. Class includes a teacher-led circle time with a routine of lap songs, nursery rhymes, movement, parachute play and stories. This class fits best for non-walking babies. After a community snack and cooperative group cleanup, we end our time together with a circle time of songs and stories, featuring ExZone favorites and new thematic material weekly. Winter Wonderland Adventures

Ages: 2.5 - 5 years with an Adult. This classroom has no walls and provides dedicated time to be outside with early learners! Explore and discover parts of the forest in the winter season with other families and led by Andrea Nance, 1,000 Hours Outside participant and long-time First Steps instructor. Class includes nature-based activities (like ice sculptures, fort building and snow painting) full body exploration, stories and play. Classes meet rain, snow or shine (within safe temperatures) so, please dress for the weather and a change of clothes is never a bad idea. All are welcome. Instructor: Andrea Nance. 5 classes. Gather together in our large playroom to play, sing, read and also learn about the culture, music and traditions that connect with Hispanic culture. This twice a month class includes an interactive storytime as well as many options around the room to play and socialize alongside other Spanish speakers. In this interactive class with Dance & Grow, we explore imagination and movement and work on self-regulation, balancing, eye-tracking, spatial and temporal awareness and so much more. Storytime, dance and movement activities, obstacle courses, literacy and crafts - a delightful way to get moving, spend quality time, and encourage learning through purposeful play. Let’s boogie! Ages: 24 - 35 months with an Adult. Calling all two year olds! Time for Twos is a continuation of our Fun at One class with a few changes to match these growing and changing toddlers. The first half of class is open-ended play time where children explore and engage in a wide array of centers and activities. Adults and children build connections with the same families week to week while witnessing the growth in the children over the spring season. After group clean-up, Erin transitions to a circle time including bubbles, singing games, acting out stories, movement and use of props. Class ends with a read-aloud book and stickers. Adults learn and practice practical strategies with guidance from teacher and Speech and Language Pathologist, Emily McGuire. The first part of class includes open play and exploration with a focus on a featured toy or type of play/interaction as it relates to the building blocks of speech development. Class then moves to circle time with bubbles, songs, lap games and “What’s in the Box?” that promotes back-and-forth interaction between adults and babies. Imagine Dance

Ages: 4 - 6 years without an Adult. Imagine Dance is an introduction to modern dance, improvisation, and individual creativity in the CAB dance studio. Dancers learn to move their bodies in different ways as Lesley interweaves dance, music, literature, and art for a holistic experience of the dance world. Class includes warm up, floor work, locomotor, choreography, and improvisation. A studio performance celebrates the end of the session. Lesley holds degrees in Children’s Dance and English Literature and has many years of experience teaching dance and the creative arts in Ann Arbor. Building on basic dance skills dancers choreograph movement, elements and poems for at least one performance onsite and another one in the studio. Celebrating the individual and the group, BDDT supports the physical, artistic and emotional growth with a healthy dose of silly in the mix. Lesley holds degrees in Children’s Dance and English Literature and is excited to continue her Blue Dragon Dance Theater tradition with your child. In this class, adults learn and practice strategies to enhance language learning with guidance from teacher and Speech and Language Pathologist Emily McGuire. During the first half of class, toddlers and adults explore and play in different stations in our classroom while making choices, playing and interacting with peers. The second part moves to Circle Time with songs, movement, partner activities, and “What’s in the Box?” Returning families have dedicated time to practice already-introduced strategies in a supportive classroom setting. Each week features a warm-up song and stretch, an introduction to a new sport or activity (kickball, frisbee, scoops, hula hoops, football, ninja-style agility, etc), an interactive game, and an age-appropriate anatomy and physiology lesson to help bring awareness to our amazing bodies. Susan introduces the many benefits of nurturing touch and is certified through the International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM). Learn how to identify cues, behavioral states and other methods to keep in touch as your baby grows. Infant Massage helps babies and parents with soothing, sleep, digestion, colic, depression, relaxation, communication and more. Michi plans a different make-and-take craft each week for children and adults to work on together at the beginning of class. After the art project, the rest of the room opens up for free-play activity centers alongside peers (including blocks, puppets, puzzles, cars, climbing, dramatic play and much more) and socializing with other families. The end of class includes group clean-up and a brief circle time of singing, jumping, parachute and musical props. Children gain fine motor, social and concentration skills in a playful setting.
