Olympic Style Weightlifting

Tuesdays and Thursdays

Grades: K - 5th. Enjoy a safe, fun way to discover the world of strength training. Feel a sense of accomplishment as you gradually see improvements in your abilities and physical confidence, which can translate to greater self-esteem and resilience in everyday life. Learn how to master the snatch and clean and jerk (the two core Olympic weightlifting movements) while using specially designed, kid-friendly equipment to minimize risks and ensure personal safety. Our certified instructors are experienced in teaching Olympic weightlifting techniques tailored for young participants and will prioritize proper form, technique, and equipment usage with the ultimate goal of instilling a love for physical activity and promoting lifelong healthy habits. Classes are open to aspiring athletes of all levels, providing an inclusive and supportive environment. We ask that parents remain present throughout the class. Instructors: Joelle Emery and Jeff Pillars. 6 classes. No class 11/28. Meet Our Instructors: Jeff is a USA Weightlifting National Coach, a USA Weightlifting Level 1 Coaching Instructor, and has been coaching weightlifting since 2008. He holds a masters degree in exercise physiology from Eastern Michigan University. With over 10,000 hours of Group and Private training under his belt, Jeff enjoys finding the path to success for each individual ranging from those who begin with extreme limitations to competitive athletes. Joelle is a USA Weightlifting National Coach and a nationally competitive lifter. She has a BA in Psychology and Child Development and a MA in Mental Health Counseling and Behavioral Medicine. She loves sharing her passion for weightlifting with all ages, and takes pride in watching the transformation people experience when they discover their own strength.

Soccer

Soccer Skills Training @ Haisley

Grades: 2nd - 3rd. Join us for an upbeat skill-building program designed for children already playing Rec & Ed soccer or those wanting to get a little better at soccer before joining a league. Developing soccer skills gives players confidence and allows them to understand how they can positively contribute to their team no matter what position they're playing. The types of skills that will be covered during this training: body work and positioning, ball handling and dribbling, passing skills and form for short, medium, and long passing, goalie skills and goalie concepts, off the ball movement, spatial awareness, shooting and finishing, and fitness. Each new skill will build on skills learned in a previous week. Soccer is a game that can be played by everyone, and this training will help unlock your child's greatest potential! What to bring: Cleats (and regular running shoes in case training is held indoors) and a pre-filled water bottle. Instructor: G-Powers Training staff. 6 classes.

Grades: Y5 - 1st. Open Soccer Training is for players of any level looking to get professional coaching for their child. This is a great addition for players in Rec and Ed to give them the experience of professional coaching and feedback as to where their child is best suited for development in the future. Run by Futsal Factory Academy Staff, players will learn the basics to advanced technical and tactical aspects of the game. Curriculum is designed so players get lots of touches in game situations, learn problem solving, and continue to develop a passion for the game. We spend 10-15 min of the session playing at the end, focusing on the topic of the day. 6 classes. No class 10/11.

Little Ninjas Karate

Ages: 4 - 6 years old without and Adult (but adult stays on site). Little Ninjas teaches introductory martial arts skills to young children. The class is catered to the abilities and attention span of this age group. Children will learn discipline, self-control, respect for teachers, parents and classmates, physical fitness and coordination, balance, memory and focus. Learning is done through fun games and activities, and experienced, professional martial arts instructors keep the children moving and engaged. Each child will complete the introductory curriculum of Little Ninjas and receive their first Ninja belt (no additional fee). A responsible adult must remain in attendance for this half-hour class. Instructor: PKSA Karate Staff. 6 classes. No class 10/11.

Kids Power Karate

Grades: 2nd - 6th. Students learn self-defense, physical fitness and coordination, teamwork, anti-kidnapping techniques, self-discipline, respect for parents and teachers, and self-confidence in a positive, fun environment with experienced professional martial arts instructors. At the end of the course they will have completed the introductory curriculum of the Korean martial art of Tang Soo Do and will receive their yellow belt, the first of many steps toward a black belt if they wish to pursue it. Parents may participate with their children if they wish (this is optional). Last class includes a martial arts demonstration and each child will break a board under the safe supervision of instructors. A responsible adult must remain in attendance for this 45-minutes class.
